County Pistol A team winners

County A Team pistol shooters Simon, Josh, Chris, George and Mark finally received their prizes from last years county league. Congratulations to the team on an excellent performance both last year and in the current season where again the team lead their division.

British Shooting National Schools Finals

Congratulations to Josh Wegg, Charlie Gunns, Thomas Aldous, Emily Flowerdew and Daisy Burn for qualifying for the British Shooting National Schools finals.

The finals were held on the 4th and 5th of February in Cannock.

In the rifle event Charlie Gunns was superb in the Junior Sporter Rifle category and came away with the bronze medal after an excellent performance in the final.

In the 10m Precision Rifle Emily Flowerdew, Daisy Burn and Thomas Aldous won the Gold medal in the team event against a very high quality field.

Unfortunately, after shooting new personal best the week before, Josh came down with a nasty dose of flu so was unable to compete. In the pistol, this left Charlie Gunns who was competing in the Junior Pistol category. Charlie shot brilliantly and was awarded top pistol para shooter at the event.

We are so proud of the performances delivered and look forward to Josh returning for next years competition!

Charity Santa Shoot

On 8th December 2024 we held our first Santa Shoot. this was in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust and Bowel cancer UK as well as our local Scouts charity. We were delighted and amazed to raise £2100 for these charities with 100% of funds made through the event being donated.

Everyone enjoyed a fun day of shooting, Christmas stalls, and hog roast and we look forward to returning to this event in December 2025.

Coaching Seminar with Olympic Gold medalist Ginny Thrasher

In November, Chris was lucky enough to attend a coaching seminar with Olympic rifle gold medalist Ginny Thrasher. This was held at Aldersley and was a fantastic experience. ginny was kind enough to sign a range of T-shirts for our juniors and to have her picture taken with the positive potato mascots.

Eastern Region Schools Rifle Championships

We were delighted to be awarded the hosting of the Eastern Region Schools Rifle Championships in November 2024 by British Shooting. It was a fantastic event with young shooters from across the Eastern countries taking part with the aim of trying to qualify for the National Schools Finals.

We were delighted that all our shooters qualified- huge congratulations to Charlie, Thomas, Daisy and Emily on fantastic shooting.

October Open meeting incorporating County Championships

We were delighted to welcome 102 shooters to our October open meeting and county championships.

There were some very strong performances across the board.

In the Open Air pistol, Ken Darling (Bedford) was winter of Class A, James George of Bexley was winner of Class B, Gary Funnell (NCTC) was the winner of Class C, and Steven Cordery (Burnham) was the winner of Class D. Josh Wegg (NCTC) was the winner of the county title.

In the Supported Rest Pistol, Gerry Horner (Bexley) won the Open Category and Steve Jones (NCTC) won the county title.

In the Air Rifle, Daisy Burn (NCTC) won both the Open and County titles. John Hasthorpe (NCTC)won the supported rest rifle county title.

Kamal Mistry (DSGB) won both the SH1 standing and prone rifle categories.

Junior Shooters enjoy summer camp at Aldersley

Three junior rifle shooters enjoyed a summer camp put on by British Shooting in the summer holidays. Emily, Thomas and Daisy had a fantastic time and picked up lots of new skills. Thank you to British Shooting for the opportunity

July Open 2024

We were delighted to welcome 96 shooters to our club open meeting in July. We are pleased to see this event continue to grow and hope to see more shooters still in 2025.

The Air Pistol was won by Ken Darling of Bedford Rifle Club. We were also visited by Mick Gault who had his first shoot in a long time. Gerry Horner of Bexley TSC won the supported rest pistol.

The Air Rifle was won by Daisy Burn of Norwich City Target Club while David Ford also of Norwich City won the supported rest rifle. Kamal Mistry of DSGB had an excellent performance to win the SH1 rifle.
